I decided to write this blog about spoon bending not just to tell you how to do it should you want to try it yourself but also to share what it has revealed to me: when you desire something, you have to be able to let that wanting go in order for the Universe to bring it to you. Deep, eh?
Let me backtrack here and start at the beginning. Years ago, while taking online classes with psychic detective Pam Coronado, she mentioned how she and others attending a conference had great experience bending spoons. I thought that this was amazing and the next day I set out to buy a bunch of old spoons. You don’t want to use your own spoons, right?
I was told what I needed to do and it sounded easy enough. Start shouting at the spoon, saying “Bend, bend, bend” until you feel you shouted at it enough and worked yourself and your energy up, then take your attention to something else for a second or two and then start twisting it. Well, easier said than done. After a few days of trying, I put my spoon on the dresser and eventually forgot about it, until someone who was also in Pam’s class emailed me proudly that she had succeeded with bending her spoon. That got my desire fired up to conquer the spoon. I asked her to go over the steps and she said the same thing I already knew. Shout at the spoon, take your attention away and then start twisting.
So this time, I sat down more determined than ever to do just that. I started shouting at the spoon to bend, and at first, random thoughts ran through my head : “Thank God I am alone in the house so nobody can hear me” and “I must look rather silly doing this among others”, but then I started to forget about these thoughts and after a while the room seemed to fall away, the thoughts stopped and there was nothing but me and the spoon. Important point #1: I achieved a singular point of focus and felt a strong desire combined with the belief that yes, bending the spoon was actually possible. Then all the sudden I heard a noise coming from outside and with the spoon still in my hand, I looked out the window to see what it was. Important point #2: I took my attention completely off the spoon for a second and I even forgot that I had it. This is very important, as before, when I took my attention away from it, I really did not; I was still aware and focused on the next step of twisting it. When I looked out the window and realized that the sound was coming from the children playing outside, I realized that I still had the spoon in my hand. Not only that, but I also noticed that it became rubbery in my hand and in an instant it dawned on me that this was my chance to twist it. Sure enough, I was able to twist it around several times. Wow, what a feeling of accomplishment!
So what did this experience really teach me? There are 3 components to everything you desire.
Desire, Belief and Expectancy.
The desire component is pretty straight forward. You need to want the object of your desire strongly. Belief: you have to believe that it is in the realm of possibilities. And expectancy: well this was the tricky part for me. You have to let it go and trust that it will happen. A lot of times, we want something, and we want it real bad. We even believe that it can happen, but we are hanging on so tightly to our desire that we actually block it from coming into our experience. When you order food in a restaurant, you don’t follow the waiter into the kitchen to make sure that the cook will make the food you ordered, right? You just trust that you will receive what you ordered. You let it go while holding a positive expectation about it. And yes, at times we get something other than what we ordered, but maybe it is all for a reason. So next time when you want something, say” I want this or something even better and let the Universe bring you your order.
